Mr Steven Ciobo, the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment has announce the expansion of the Government’s FTA Portal, delivering on the Government’s election commitment to assist Australian businesses take advantage of the opportunities provided by the free trade agreements.

Practical and user-friendly information about exporting into an additional nine overseas markets now appears on the FTA portal.

The Portal is already helping Australian businesses to grow and create jobs by making it easier for them to identify the export opportunities generated by Australia’s FTAs.

The additional markets comprise Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, which together represent almost $75 billion in two-way trade (2015-16) for Australia.

The Portal already covers FTAs with China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and New Zealand. All of Australia’s active FTAs will soon be available, with the United States and Chile to be added later this year.

The latest update to the Portal also includes an interactive tool to help businesses decide whether a bilateral or plurilateral FTA offers the best access to an export market, since in some markets more than one FTA is available.

Message from our Patron, Angela Corcoran, Australian Ambassador

Last week I co-hosted with HE Dr Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister for Women’s Affairs, an Australia Awards Scholarships information session at the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. It was great to see over 250 Cambodian Government officials attend, the majority of whom were women.

I am committed to encouraging more Cambodian women to apply for Australian scholarships. Since the early 1990s, we have provided scholarships to over 730 Cambodians to study in Australia. Of these recipients, 200 scholarships were awarded to Cambodian women for studies in different areas, including accounting and finance; aquaculture; banking; engineering; development studies; environmental management; law; public administration; and social work.

An Australia Awards Scholarship is a life changing opportunity for Cambodian women, who can use their overseas postgraduate qualification to enhance their skills and knowledge in their field of expertise.

The Australian Government is committed to providing opportunities for all people, and applications are strongly encouraged from women, people with disabilities and people from the provinces. Applications for an Australia Awards Scholarship 2018 intake is now open until 30 April 2017.

Further information is available on the Australia Awards Scholarships website – www.australiaawardscambodia.org
